Graduate Network Design Engineer

Key purpose of the role

The ITS network is undergoing a period of growth adding and developing new services and features and building its national network across the country. Graduate network engineers are required to help design and build the ITS network, associated systems and services.

This is a varied role which exposure to the NOC, Operations, Engineering, Design and Security functions within the business as well as wider exposure to field and network build teams. There will be a grounding in all operational areas and the opportunity to specialise within design and security functions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Gathering requirements and designing solutions to meet business challenges and needs
  • Delivering LLD and testing documentation to support solution designs
  • Testing design and architectural plans
  • Testing and designing new products and services
  • Working across the business in multiple operational areas
  • Network monitoring and continuous service improvement

Person Specification Overview

Qualifications & Training

Essential

Applicable degree in one of the following areas:

  • Computer Systems
  • Computer Networking
  • Computer Science
  • Cybersecurity

Desirable

  • Cisco or Juniper certification programmes (CCNA/JNCIA)
  • Linux/Unix exposure
  • Experience of a helpdesk or NOC environment
