We’re looking for a lead IT application engineer to join our newly formed Technology team during this very exciting time at Co-op. We’re re-building our organisation to make it fit for the future and making huge investments to our logistics business, including opening a brand-new state of the art depot in Biggleswade. We’re upgrading our current warehouse management system to Manhattan Active, and this £34 million investment will make Co-op the first food retailer in the UK to implement this new technology.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of all depot and transport applications and be the driving force on our ongoing transformation projects. We’ll look to you to deliver application design and solutions, building and implementing applications, and providing day to day technical service to both internal teams and external partners. What you’ll do

•    be a role model and drive the team to improve performance and meet business objectives
•    act as a design authority in your area of expertise, across technology
•    contribute to the architecture community of practice
•    lead technology design decisions and create solution/technical design documentation
•    provide, monitor and manage day to day service delivery on a 24/7 rotation
•    support blueprints, roadmaps and strategies
•    support the cluster technology standards and patterns, as well as the design governance (TDA)
•    drive the wider team with considerable change demand and juggle multiple projects and priorities
•    build and maintain positive relationships with senior leaders and directors
•    coach and develop other team members to strengthen overall knowledge

This role would suit people who have

•    a proven background working in IT, where you have coached and developed others
•    experience leading change for multiple business critical apps or services
•    strong experience developing and promoting technical strategies and designs
•    the ability to build strong relationships with technology suppliers and partners
•    the ability to work cross-functionally with a range of teams and partners
•    great communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information and present it in an engaging way
•    experience landing continuous improvement
•    a talent for working collaboratively, strong initiative and self-drive
•    the ability to confidently manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
