We’re looking for a senior IT application engineer to join our newly formed Technology team during this very exciting time at Co-op. We’re re-building our organisation to make it fit for the future and making huge investments to our logistics business, including opening a brand-new state of the art depot in Biggleswade. You’ll get to play a key part in this transformation. We’re upgrading our current warehouse management system to Manhattan Active, and this £34 million investment will make Co-op the first food retailer in the UK to implement this new technology.

In this role you’ll provide core support to our logistics systems and technology, making sure the critical systems that manage our logistics network are fit for purpose. It’ll involve delivering application design and solutions, building and implementing applications, and providing day to day technical service to both internal colleagues and external partners. If you can bring us the technical experience and ability to collaborate with others, we can offer you the chance to develop your career and create a genuine impact on transformation at Co-op.

What you’ll do

•    act as a design authority in your area of expertise, across technology (predominantly Manhattan)
•    lead your remit with considerable change demand whilst juggling significant multiple projects and priorities
•    support and deliver application design, build and implementation activities to programmes and projects
•    provide, monitor, and manage day to day service delivery on a 24/7 rotation to meet requirements
•    co-ordinate and manage third party supplier contracts and commercials for the cost-effective delivery of routine service and project activity
•    facilitate and lead workshops that generate ideas and content for sprints and or continuous improvement opportunities
•    build and maintain positive relationships with senior leaders and directors

This role would suit people who have

•    a proven background working in technology, where you have coached and developed others
•    experience in logistics and/or supply chain technologies such as warehouse management systems (such as Manhattan, JDA, SAP) or transport scheduling tools
•    experience in running change and operations for multiple, tier 1, business critical apps/services
•    the ability to confidently manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
•    the ability to work cross-functionally with a range of teams and partners
•    great communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information and present it in an engaging way
•    a talent for working collaboratively, strong initiative and self-drive

Why Co-op?

Here you’ll do work that matters. We’re a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, you’ll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You’ll also get a package that includes:

•    competitive salary
•    private healthcare
•    coaching, training and support to help you develop
•    pension with up to 10% employer contributions
•    annual incentive scheme
•    28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
•    discounts on Co-op products and services

Building an inclusive work environment

We’re actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone. But simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We aim to build an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences and recognise the importance of teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We can make reasonable adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment so you can adjust your hours to suit your personal circumstances. You can find out more about Co-op people policies at coop.co.uk/peoplepolicies
